1. Plain-English summary
We collect the minimum data needed to run public prediction threads and an opinionated football
website. We do not sell your data. We do not run a personalised advertising business. We do not
share predictions with sportsbooks. If you only read one section of this policy, read this one.
- You can browse Prediction League Community without an account or cookies.
- If you post a prediction comment, your chosen display name and the time-stamp are public.
- If you subscribe to our newsletter, we keep your email until you unsubscribe.
- You can request a full export or deletion of your data at any time by emailing
[email protected].
2. Who we are
For the purposes of this policy, "Prediction League Community", "we", "us" and "our" refer to
Prediction League Ltd., the controller of personal data collected through this website and its
sub-pages. Our editorial desk and engineering team are distributed across the United States, Canada
and Europe.
To exercise any of your rights under this policy, contact our data protection point of contact at
[email protected].
3. The data we collect
3.1 Data you provide directly
- Comments and predictions — display name, prediction verdict, free-text
reasoning, time of submission.
- Newsletter sign-up — email address and the date you subscribed.
- Contact form messages — your name, email, the subject category, and the body of
your message.
3.2 Data collected automatically
- Server logs — request URLs, anonymised IP segments, browser user-agent strings,
and the response status of the request.
- Strictly necessary cookies — small identifiers needed to keep your session and
load preferences (see our Cookie Policy).
- Aggregated analytics — privacy-friendly counts of pageviews, referrers, and
country (no individual fingerprinting).
4. How we use your data
We use the data described above for the following purposes only:
- Operating the public prediction threads and displaying your verdict comments on the relevant
match page.
- Sending you the daily matchday newsletter you have explicitly subscribed to.
- Responding to messages submitted through the contact form.
- Maintaining the security of our servers and detecting abuse or spam.
- Producing aggregated, non-personal statistics about how the website is used.
5. Legal bases for processing
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), UK GDPR or other equivalent laws apply, the
legal bases we rely on are:
- Consent — newsletter subscription, optional cookies.
- Legitimate interest — running and securing the website, moderating threads,
producing aggregated analytics.
- Legal obligation — retaining limited logs and abuse records to comply with
applicable law and respond to lawful requests.
6. How long we keep your data
- Prediction comments are retained for the duration of the tournament archive — they form part of
the public record of community sentiment.
- Newsletter records are retained until you unsubscribe; we retain the unsubscribe record for a
further 24 months for audit purposes.
- Contact form messages are retained for up to 24 months and then deleted unless they relate to an
ongoing matter.
- Server logs are retained for a maximum of 90 days, after which they are aggregated or deleted.
7. Sharing your data
We do not sell personal data. We share limited data only with the following categories of third
parties:
- Our infrastructure providers (hosting, content delivery, transactional email) under
data-processing agreements.
- Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally compelled to disclose information.
- Professional advisors (lawyers, auditors) bound by confidentiality.
We do not share any data with sportsbooks, advertising networks that rely on personal identifiers, or
data brokers. Full stop.
8. International transfers
Because our editorial desk is distributed across regions, some processing may occur outside your
country of residence. When data is transferred outside the European Economic Area or the United
Kingdom, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure — request that we delete your data, subject to limited exceptions.
- Restriction — limit how we process your data while a dispute is resolved.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
- Portability — receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We respond within
30 days.
10. Children
This website is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data
from minors. If you believe a minor has registered or submitted data, contact us immediately and we
will remove the record.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of this
page and, where appropriate, sent to subscribers by email. Continued use of the website after an
update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
12. Contact
Questions, complaints, or rights requests should be directed to
[email protected]. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the
right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
